Carrot Walnut Loaf

Dear all,

I've been baking a LOT of bread lately, especially the courgette mushroom bread I love so much. But sometimes you have to try something a little different. Whereas the courgette bread is yeast bread, it had been a while since a made some soda bread. So I made a carrot and walnut soda loaf. It was REALLY good! Highly recommended!!

Doenjang jjigae

Dear all,

I am a big fan of Korean food and recently I had this sudden urge to have some. I wanted to try something new and combined with my craving for tofu I decided to make Doenjang jjigae, or 'fermented soy bean paste stew'. It tastes much better than it sounds!~

Doenjang jjigae: soybean paste, tofu, shiitake, spring onion, bean sprouts and courgette. With a side of cucumber kimchi. It was heaven!

Fresh Pasta

Dear all,

Lately I have had quite a bit of free time on my hand which has led to lots of food experimentation and what not. Today I want to show you the fresh pasta I made, with home made pesto! I took an Italian cooking workshop last year and this is the result!

Tadaa courgette pesto pasta!

Orange Custard Tart

Dear all,

Despite several years of experience with baking I sometimes struggle with recipes. This Orange Custard Tart was one of them. The recipe used ready-roll pastry which I refuse to use but then my pastry turned out rubbish. After a second attempt using a different recipe I at least got that right but then my orange custard curdled, so I had to make another batch using -again- a different recipe. In the end it all turned out okay, although it didn't set as I had hoped. I guess I still have a lot of learning to do, especially evaluating recipes! Though mind you this recipe came from a trusted source - can't all be perfect I guess!

Anyway, what tart am I talking about? This one!

Lasagne

Dear all,

I recently made a veggie lasagne that was just to die for. Sometimes I find veggie lasagne lacking in flavour - this can't be said for this version. I present a spinach/ricotta and tomato sauce layered lasagne:
